my nasi lemak project

hello people.

i have an amazing experience to share.

i cooked nasi lemak, one day before we went back for hari raya. reason: there was a friend of mr hubs, a malay friend in town, fasting alone. so we were so happy to have him over for iftar. at least he wont feel so alone. i think, we also must be happy if the same thing happen to us, invited over a meal while you are all alone. right?

happen to be, it was our first time cooking nasi lemak. (ya lah, before kawen mane teringin masak kan. i mean why do you have to hassle yourself with cooking tools when u can get everything you want from the stalls, without wasting any time. :P). i was googling all over the web to get the easiest recipe. hahaha. well, i found one and it has never been such an excitement over a meal before. the fragrance of pandan leaves, was a veryyy good smell, left us waiting for the rice cooker button to pop up to "keep warm".

then, alhamdulillah we had a great iftar session over our home made nasi lemak. i tell you, eating nasi lemak together with ayam goreng can be soo WOW!

so this was a picture taken on that day! we have a balance diet you know. ahhahaa..

and this nasi lemak has let me to cook it one more time for the post-job party. alhamdulillah mr jobs and the crews have been successfully completed the job and they want to throw some party. normally they just have a bbq party, but time, they were asking for nasi lemak. haiyohhh.. to be frank, i am the only malay ladies available to cook nasi lemak.and this time i am cooking for 20 people. genius! (bini boss org british- tatau masak nasi lemak. cet, macam le aku tau sangat. hahhahaa). so let me share with you the simplest recipe ever to cook nasi lemak. is it guilt-free? almost.

HEALTHY NASI LEMAK MIMI (serving for 4 people)
ingredients:
1 cups of low fat milk/ coconut milk
3 cups of rice
water
1 tiny slice of ginger (slice finely)
2 shallots (slice finely)
1 lemon grass
3 kaffir leaves
4 pandan leaves
pinch of salt

just cook like u usually cook rice. however, you need to take care of them, checking if there is enough water because the coconut milk tend to turn oil and make the rice 'fluffy'. i found that some recipes do put fenugreek to the rice, which i have no idea what the hell is fenugreek means. rupanya fenugreek tu biji halba. hahahahhaaa. of course i dont have it here.
this nasi lemak is extra heavenly eaten with kick-ass sambal with some anchovies and hard-boiled egg. instead of sambal ikan bilis, u can also make prawn or squid sambal using the same recipe. just remember to add the seafood in the last 10 minutes of cooking.

and these were the food that we prepared yesterday to bring to the boss's house for the party. we have nasi lemak, sambal ikan bilis, ayam goreng, keropok goreng and meehoon goreng. owh i am so proud to tell you that the meehoon goreng was prepared by mr hubs. ahahhahaa.i always tease mr hubs by saying that "lelaki pantai timur tak tau masuk dapur tolong isteri. mau makan hidang je". anyways, good effort haaa. and the rest of the menu, sally si bini boss helped me to prepare from her house.
preparing these meals consumed a lot of time + energy. me and sally went to the market to buy all the ingredients needed and me and mr hubs started to cook from 1pm until 4pm. wow, thats a long of time. then we brought over the food and party began at 5pm until midnight. we really had a great time.

but i tell you, the most time-consuming is to clean the mess up and put back all of our cutleries and equipments back to the place. OMG! this can be very torturing. and today i woke up with a great ache all over my bodies. so does mr hubs. kesian. but it was worth it all! :P

well, today is our 4th month being together as a husband-and-wife relationship. alhamdulillah married life is just so beautiful. thank you Allah for make me believe in love again and sent me mr hubs .i know there are many years to come, insyaAllah.

so hows your weekend? yeahh i know you guys have a lot of openhouses attended. how great that would be. :)
